University College Birmingham has implemented Catchbox Plus technology to improve its lecture recording capabilities, according to Installation. The institution is utilizing the system across multiple locations to modernize its audio capture methods.
Reporting from Installation details that Catchbox Plus provides a comprehensive solution incorporating a throwable Cube microphone and a Clip microphone designed for mobility. Initially deployed at nine campuses, the system has supplanted traditional, fixed lectern microphones. The installation is part of a larger initiative to update technology across the university.
Currently, four Catchbox Plus systems are operational at UCB, with plans to install seven additional units. The technology’s design incorporates features like a DSP within the Catchbox Hub to streamline the system's components and reduce complexity. An audible alarm is also included to aid in the recovery of misplaced equipment. Furthermore, UCB can personalize the devices with custom branding.
The adoption of Catchbox Plus has not only facilitated audience interaction during question-and-answer sessions but has also broadened the university’s commercial opportunities and venue rental potential. According to Installation, the system has fostered a more inclusive environment and boosted participation in shared spaces. The Clip mic is designed to track lecturers as they move throughout the room.
