Gretsch has expanded its Professional Series lineup with a limited-edition G6134T-58 Penguin electric guitar finished in Pale Blue Pearl. MusicRadar reported that this new model is designed for those serious about Gretsch sounds who have a big budget, carrying a street price of $3,799 which includes a hard-shell case. The release features historical aesthetics and high-spec components typical of the brand. The instrument showcases a chambered mahogany body with a maple arch top and a Bigsby B3GP string-through vibrato tailpiece. Buyers should expect the guitar to weigh between the 8 and 9lb mark due to these appointments.
A standout feature is the inclusion of TV Jones Ray Butts Ful-Fidelity Filter’Tron pickups. These units are built to original specifications and were described by MusicRadar as sounding ridiculously good, offering a tighter low end and more detail in high frequencies compared to standard options. Notably, these specific pickups cannot be purchased separately for lower-priced Electromatic or Streamliner models. The Japanese-made guitar also sports a glued-in mahogany neck with a Standard U profile, a 24.6-inch scale length, and an ebony fingerboard with mother of pearl Neo Classic thumbnail inlays. This launch follows previous limited-run Penguins that featured paisley finishes with a gold edge burst, Champagne Sparkle, and quilted maple tops, continuing the tradition of visually distinct singlecut instruments from the brand.
