1010music has released firmware version 1.6 for its Bento all-in-one music creation device, adding parameter automation, sidechain ducking, stem export, and 16 scenes per song, according to a report from Gearnews.

The update lets users draw shapes on the piano roll grid to modulate one or more track parameters, Gearnews reported. A comprehensive sidechain ducking feature includes multiple trigger options. Pan level mutes, the ability to record audio from anywhere, and using a track’s MIDI channel to trigger recording actions are also included. New reverb modes include Room and Shimmer.

The firmware is available for download from the 1010music website. The Bento, which retails for €1,049, features a 7-inch touchscreen, 16 pads, eight endless encoders, 24-bit sampling, eight sequencing tracks, granular and slicing capabilities, and an extensive effects section. It can be battery-powered with a claimed three-hour battery life.

Earlier firmware updates added the Fireball wavetable synth engine, Shredder Tracks combining slicing with granular, a 256-step sequencer with probability and microtiming, Loop Groups, and DJ-style effects. The device supports external MIDI and audio connectivity via three pairs of stereo ins and outs, two USB-C ports, and MIDI over 3.5mm TRS.
