Antares Audio Technologies launched AutoTune Advanced on September 24, a real-time vocal tuning plugin the company positions as the new flagship of its automatic pitch-correction lineup, according to Music Business Worldwide.
The plugin is built on a ground-up rebuild of the AutoTune algorithm that Antares calls its largest engineering investment in the algorithm since its introduction. Its headline feature is DVA, a patent-pending engine that detects a singer’s vibrato and leaves it in place rather than correcting it. DVA is paired with a real-time visualizer showing the vibrato the engine detects as a vocal plays.
CEO Jeff Wright said the complaint about pitch correction since 1997 has been that it takes the singer out of the singing, and DVA was built to tell the difference between a pitch error and a vocalist’s deliberate decision, leaving the decision alone.
Advanced introduces a Live monitoring mode holding plugin latency under 1 ms at supported sample rates from 44.1 kHz to 192 kHz, alongside Low Latency and High Quality modes. A Vibrato FX section generates vibrato using sine, square, saw or triangle waves when a performance has none.
Antares places Advanced atop a three-edition range including AutoTune Pro 11, which retains Graph Mode, and AutoTune, the streamlined edition aimed at everyday correction. Other additions include an updated Formant Designer, a custom scale workflow, a 78-note Visual Keyboard and MIDI Perform mapping.
The plugin ships with presets from eight producers and engineers including Julian Marley, Ann Mincieli and Tom Norris. It is available as a perpetual license or through the AutoTune Unlimited subscription, included at no extra cost for current Unlimited subscribers, and runs as VST3, AU or AAX on macOS and Windows.
