Arturia introduced Pigments Play on September 29, 2026, a free software synthesizer that condenses the capabilities of its Pigments platform into a streamlined instrument aimed at first-time sound designers and producers working quickly.

According to the manufacturer, Pigments Play ships with 100 presets curated by expert sound designers and spanning genres including pop, R&B, garage, house, drum and bass, trap and ambient. The instrument is available as a free download for Windows and macOS, running standalone or within a DAW.

The product features an audio-reactive interface that animates visuals in response to performance and sound edits, the company said. Four macros surface expressive parameters for each preset, allowing users to reshape tone, movement and character. Pigments Play draws on Modal, Granular, Wavetable, Sample, Harmonic and Virtual Analog synthesis engines, with more than 50 filter modes and 20 effects.

Arturia stated that automatic parameter mapping provides integration with its keyboard controllers, while controls can also be assigned to third-party MIDI hardware. An integrated Sound Store offers access to more than 200 artist- and genre-based sound banks, with new free and paid content added regularly.

The Grenoble-based company, founded in 1999, develops music software and hardware and operates in 55 countries with offices in France, the USA, Mexico and Hong Kong.
