Audio-Technica has revived the ATM25 hypercardioid dynamic instrument microphone, a model initially launched in 1983. According to reporting by Mixonline, the microphone is crafted to deliver a precise recording of high-sound-pressure-level sources when positioned near the instrument.

The ATM25 is particularly well-suited for capturing the sound of kick drums, although it can also be employed for toms, brass instruments, and other sources that generate substantial dynamic range. The microphone’s design also makes it useful for close-miking electric guitar amplifiers and bass cabinets, and even for voiceover and radio broadcast applications.

Built with a robust, all-metal construction and including a stand clamp and a multi-level grille, the ATM25 is presently manufactured in Japan, mirroring its original production method. Numerous audio professionals and artists have utilized the ATM25 since its debut.
