Cherry Audio has introduced Memorymode 2, a synthesizer that promises a more substantial and improved reinterpretation of its Memorymoog software instrument. The update claims to offer richer tonal character while replicating the power of the original vintage hardware at a lower price point than buying the physical unit.
Designed with advanced analysis techniques, this new instrument aims to redefine accuracy standards for analog modeling in digital environments. The predecessor, Memorymoog, was celebrated for its six-voice polyphony and ladder filter, earning comparisons to six Minimoogs combined into one unit.
Now five years later, Memorymode 2 serves as the definitive successor to both the original hardware and the previous plugin version. Its architecture supports two complete 16-voice polyphonic layers per preset, capable of stacking up to 48 voices within each layer.
The latest release features refined modeling across oscillators, filters, and envelopes, including a 24dB ladder filter with an optional 12dB/octave variant for enhanced low and high frequencies. New capabilities include analog drift control, multi-voice and single-key chord modes, and expanded expression through velocity, polyphonic aftertouch, and MPE support.
