Los Angeles-based music education brand Color With Live has entered the software accessories market with Stencils, a new product line of soundless arrangement maps for Ableton Live. According to a report by MusicTech, these digital tools function as structural templates based on popular commercial tracks, allowing producers to insert their own sounds into pre-defined clips.
MusicTech states that the library currently includes over 250 stencils covering genres such as UK Garage, Dubstep, Tech House, Drum & Bass, Techno, and Hip-Hop. Each map visually labels song sections like drops and breakdowns while providing specific mixing instructions, such as low-frequency cutoff points. Co-founder Kevin Rea told MusicTech that while MIDI packs exist for theory and Serum packs for sound design, no visual tools previously addressed arrangement workflow.
To drive initial adoption, the company is distributing a free three-pack featuring structures from tracks by Levity, Fisher, and Dimension, MusicTech reports. The product targets working producers seeking to overcome creative blocks by providing a finished structural framework. This launch expands the available resources for electronic music production, shifting focus from sound creation to arrangement mechanics within the Ableton ecosystem.
