The Peru Amateur Circus in Indiana has replaced its aging incandescent lighting infrastructure with a state-of-the-art LED system designed by CSD Group. According to reporting from plsn.com, the upgrade features Elation fixtures and an Obsidian control console, transforming the visual experience for the historic community event.
Dave Singer of CSD Group told plsn.com that the previous setup offered limited color options due to stagnant gel frames. The new design provides complete color flexibility and moving light capabilities across all three performance rings. Lighting designer Logan Decker utilized Capture software to model a 360-degree system that creates an immersive environment for both performers and audiences, plsn.com reported.
The installation includes sixteen Elation Fuze SFX moving heads, eight Fuze Wash 500 Fresnels, and twelve Paladin Brick LED battens. Two Magma Prime hazers were added to enhance beam visibility. An Obsidian NX1-16 console running Onyx software was selected for its intuitive interface, allowing volunteer operators to manage complex cues easily, per plsn.com.
Volunteers donated five weeks of labor to install over 4,000 feet of wiring and a new electrical panel. This effort saved the organization approximately $23,000 in costs while delivering a safer, more reliable system. The upgraded rig debuted during the annual festival in July and will support year-round events at the venue.
