DiGiCo has introduced the Quantum638 mixing console, a new Quantum Range model combining elements of the SD7 and SD5 with current Quantum technology, positioning it between the flagship Quantum852 and the Quantum338 Pulse. MONDO-DR reported that the console offers 256 input channels, 128 aux/sub-group busses, a 48×48 matrix, and seventh-generation FPGA processing.

The Quantum638 is the first DiGiCo Quantum console offered in both single-engine and dual-engine configurations, with the dual-engine version capable of running in single-engine mode. DiGiCo Head of Product Digby Shaw said engineers hold strong preferences between architectures, making both options within one platform a significant step. An optional Quantum638T version adds theatre-specific functions including Auto Update, Aliases, Players, advanced CG programming tools, and Matrix Nodal Delays for plays and musicals.

The console features three 17-inch touchscreens, 38 motorised faders, enhanced Macro buttons, an InfoBar, dual DMI card slots, hot-swappable PSUs, onboard Dante, and a built-in Fourier Interface Card for native compatibility with Fourier Audio’s transform.engine platform. Its footprint nearly matches the SD7, making it an upgrade path for theatres needing increased horsepower where real estate is at a premium. DiGiCo Managing Director Austin Freshwater said the console suits theatrical tours, installs, concerts, festivals, and houses of worship. The worksurface measures 1555mm by 957mm by 535mm and weighs 93kg.
