DiGiCo has launched the Quantum638 digital mixing console, positioning the desk between its Quantum852 and Quantum338 Pulse models and targeting theatre sound applications, according to Mixonline.

The console combines elements from DiGiCo’s SD5 and SD7 desks and is roughly the size of an SD7, Mixonline reported. It is available in single-engine and dual-engine versions, both with dual DMI card slots and hot-swappable power supplies. An optional Quantum638T version adds a theatre software extension with features including Auto Update, Aliases, Players, advanced CG programming tools and Matrix Nodal Delays for plays and musicals.

The desk offers 256 input channels and 128 aux/sub-group busses, with three 17-inch LCD touchscreens, three 6.8-inch TFT screens, 38 touch-sensitive motorized faders and enhanced Macro buttons, Mixonline said. Four designated channel Macros move with the channel depending on console layout.

Additional features include a 48-by-48 matrix with full processing, 128 Nodal Processing instances, 64 insertable Mustard Processing strips, 16 Spice Rack slots and True Solo functionality, the publication reported. Connectivity includes onboard Dante, a built-in Fourier Interface Card for native compatibility with Fourier Audio’s transform.engine platform, eight MADI I/O sets, 32-bit mic/line inputs and AES/EBU connections.
