Eastern Acoustic Works reported that its AC6 ADAPTive column loudspeakers are at the center of a new installation at St. Jude’s Catholic Church in Southern California. The project, designed by DayTech Consulting and installed with regional dealer Rat Sound Systems, replaces a two-decade-old system that suffered from inconsistent coverage and an obstructing center cluster.
The new design uses four AC6 columns configured as dual seven-foot arrays, supported by a pair of EAW 18-inch subwoofers. The compact 12-inch by 12-inch footprint allowed the integrators to remove the center cluster entirely, preserving a stained-glass window while improving coverage uniformity across the church serving 5,000 to 6,000 parishioners.
EAW reported that its Resolution software enabled micro-adjustments during commissioning, with audible results from changes of less than a foot in coverage pattern. The case study also highlights the AC6’s modular design as a key selling point for the parish, allowing continued operation if one module fails, a critical consideration for a venue with daily Mass and limited downtime.
The parish is now exploring additional programming such as jazz quartets and special performances, according to the case study.
