Expressive E has released firmware update 2.3 for the original Osmose synthesizer, extending DAW control capabilities and Ctrl-e software integration previously launched with the Controller Edition. According to gearnews, this free update enables owners of the 49-key and 61-key models to manage transport, metronome, loop functions, and mixer settings directly from the keyboard across major digital audio workstations including Ableton Live, Cubase, Bitwig, and Logic Pro. The Mode button now functions as a Shift key for additional commands like undo and quantization.
The manufacturer states that the update also provides a complimentary license for the Ctrl-e plugin, granting access to over 900 expressive sounds developed in partnership with companies like Kilohearts, Synapse Audio, and Vital. Gearnews reports that additional enhancements include a new bottom action bar for quick parameter access and a redesigned USB MIDI setup to improve computer and hardware interaction. Furthermore, the company announced it will move Osmose assembly from China to a new in-house facility in Poland. This transition aims to ensure reliability and adhere to high European quality standards by eliminating the use of external subcontractors for future production. The Osmose 61 remains available alongside the original 49-key version through retail partners such as Thomann and Sweetwater, with the larger model priced at $1,899. These changes bring the original hardware features in line with the newer Controller Edition.
