Audio Wanderer has developed Drum Machina Go!, a software application that transforms the original Nintendo Game Boy into a portable drum machine. The program leverages the handheld’s internal sound capabilities to produce rhythmic patterns.

Drum Machina Go! utilizes the Game Boy’s audio hardware, specifically its two pulse channels, wave channel, and noise channel, to generate sounds. The software provides a four-channel drum machine and pattern sequencer for users to create and manipulate rhythms.

Each channel within the software features a 16-step sequencer, which allows for complex pattern creation. Additional features include pattern chaining, generative sequencing options, per-step tuning capabilities, filtering, envelopes, and real-time effects. The application also offers synchronization with another Game Boy via the Link port, or the ability to send clock pulses to external devices.
