Harry the hirer Productions has expanded its rental inventory with 24 JBL Professional VTX A8 line array elements, 20 B18 subwoofers and four Crown VRack amplifier systems, adding a second line array brand to the Australian production company’s stock, ProSoundWeb reports.

The purchase, supplied by Australian distributor MadisonAV, followed a warehouse comparison and a live production trial at HYROX Sydney Showground. Rob Nickels, senior account manager at Harry the hirer Productions, arranged the demonstration with MadisonAV head of tour sound Peter Kubow after discussions at ISE. The company deployed eight A8 elements per side with B18 subwoofers in cardioid configuration during the five-day HYROX event, which drew more than 28,000 visitors.

The new inventory was subsequently deployed at the AFL Grand Final Toyota Footy Fest at the Melbourne Cricket Ground, covering parade-start stages and a site along the parade route. MadisonAV supplied additional A12 and A8 equipment for the main stage, configured with eight A12 elements per side, four A8 front fills, 14 B18 subwoofers and eight A8 delay elements.

Nickels cited the rigging design and purchasing support as factors in the decision, noting the system’s quick setup and ease of use. Front of house engineer Will Petts reported zero issues during deployment, praising the system’s throw and performance straight out of the box.
