The Circus Arena, a venue for the Circus City Festival, Inc. (CCFI), has recently completed a significant modernization of its lighting infrastructure. Recognizing the need to evolve beyond its aging incandescent system, the organization partnered with CSD Group to implement a contemporary solution incorporating Elation LED lighting and an Obsidian control system.
According to CSD Group, the decision to update the lighting stemmed from a longstanding relationship with Elation and a desire to enhance the overall spectacle of the festival. The project’s success is attributed to the financial support of Robert Cultice, the guidance of CCFI Board Member Bob Sucharski, and the contributions of CSD Group’s engineering team and a dedicated group of volunteers.
The Circus City Festival, a yearly event held in mid-July, showcases approximately 200 performers between the ages of seven and twenty-one. The festival’s ten performances over eight days uphold a regional circus heritage that extends back to the late 19th century. Many individuals contribute their time to assist these young artists, some of whom have subsequently performed with Ringling Bros.
Festival organizers expressed considerable satisfaction with the newly installed system’s capabilities, noting the transformative impact on the audience experience. The upgrade represents a commitment to preserving a cherished community tradition while embracing modern technology.
