Jade Electric Pedals has launched the Blackboard Overdrive, a hand-built guitar pedal featuring an original soft-clipping circuit designed to respond to playing dynamics and volume knob adjustments, according to a Premier Guitar report.

The pedal combines overdrive with a clean blend and separate bass and treble controls, allowing players to add grit while retaining clean-signal definition and shaping the sound for their guitar and amplifier, the report states.

Developed by guitarist and Jade Electric founder Danny Ousley, the Blackboard is especially suited to country music playing styles, reflecting the company’s Bakersfield roots and practical approach to gear for the stage and studio, Premier Guitar reported.

The pedal takes its name from the iconic Bakersfield honky tonk The Blackboard Café. Although the club closed years ago, the Blackboard is still revered as the stomping ground of legends such as Buck Owens, Merle Haggard, and Red Simpson, according to the report.

Jade Electric’s Blackboard Overdrive is priced at $175 USD and is available directly from jadeelectricpedals.com, Premier Guitar reported.
