Kuusoutoshi Audio has introduced DrumUnveil, a plugin that separates stereo drum loops or drum stems into six individual lanes: kick, snare, toms, hi-hat, ride and crash. Detected hits are converted to MIDI notes carrying velocity data, and both separated audio and MIDI can be dragged into a DAW, according to Monthly Mixing.
Each lane offers adjustable sensitivity and gate, with swing controllable from 0% to 100%. MIDI mapping supports GM, Addictive Drums 2 and Toontrack formats including EZdrummer and Superior Drummer, and custom mappings can be saved. Users can add or delete notes on the waveform and edit velocity. Preview options include MIDI, separated audio or both, with volume, mute and solo per lane.
All six lanes can be exported simultaneously, or audio and MIDI can be selected per lane. Exported audio includes tempo information. The plugin processes loops dropped into its window rather than functioning as a real-time ARA tool.
DrumUnveil is available as VST3 and standalone on Windows, and as VST3, AU and standalone on macOS. The launch price is $49, rising to $69 thereafter. Without a license, kick and snare MIDI export remains available indefinitely, while full six-lane audio and MIDI export requires purchase.
