Melbourne Instruments has launched Melbourne Exchange, a free online library where owners of the ROTO-CONTROL motorized MIDI controller can publish and download setups, integrations and software, according to Gearnews. More than 60 user contributions were available at launch, including plugin setups for Universal Audio 1176 and LA-2A, plus templates for pedals from Chase Bliss, Boss, Meris, Hologram, Old Blood Noise and Moog. Synthesizer setups cover Elektron, Moog, Waldorf and Korg.
Gearnews reports that Melbourne Instruments also published both controller APIs in full: a serial API for configuration and a SysEx API for bidirectional live control. Source code for the manufacturer’s own Ableton Live, Bitwig Studio and Logic Pro integrations is available on GitHub. Exchange additionally hosts user-created software including RotoSeq, a Max for Live sequencer by Alut, and MAP8, an extended Ableton Live script by Quixotic7.
All Exchange content is released under a Creative Commons license, Gearnews reports. Browsing requires no account, but downloading and sharing require free registration. The ROTO-CONTROL is sold through Thomann and Sweetwater. Gearnews notes that setup quality varies by creator and advises checking verification notes before relying on any contribution.
