Meyer Sound and regional partner UltraSound LLC significantly upgraded the audio infrastructure for the 18th annual Outside Lands festival in San Francisco, deploying 340 loudspeakers across three stages. LSi Online reported that this longstanding collaboration with producer Another Planet Entertainment featured a strategic shift to an all-2100-LFC low-frequency control element configuration at the flagship Lands End stage. This setup paired eighteen Panther line array loudspeakers per side with nine flown and sixteen ground-based 2100-LFC elements.
Josh Osmond, director of operations for UltraSound, noted that the 2100-LFCs helped add weight to the bottom end while complementing the upper range of the Panther arrays. He described the units as musical with fast transients and transparent qualities. The report also details significant updates at the delay towers, where permanent underground foundations were installed during the offseason. This new infrastructure reduced the tower footprint in audience areas. Consequently, six 1100-LFC elements per side were flown alongside LYON line arrays instead of being placed on the ground. Bob McCarthy, Meyer Sound’s director of system optimisation, stated that keeping six subs on the towers kept the sound really full and thick deeper into the space.
Beyond the main stage, Panther mains and Lyon delays supported the SOMA EDM stage, while compact Mina line arrays powered the Dolores area. Mary Conde of Another Planet Entertainment emphasized that the synergy between these local teams enables continuous production improvements. Visiting engineers like Sean Delaine praised the system clarity, noting enhanced transient response and great mid-range performance during the event.
