Meyer Sound has been named the Official Sound Partner of David Geffen Hall in New York, supplying a new sound reinforcement system headlined by the manufacturer’s TIGRA line arrays. According to ProSoundWeb, the venue is the first concert hall globally to order the TIGRA product, which will support amplified programming for Lincoln Center for the Performing Arts and the resident New York Philharmonic.
The installation addresses specific acoustic challenges within the multi-use hall, including coverage for stacked seating tiers and clearance for a large retractable screen used during film screenings. ProSoundWeb reports that the TIGRA system allowed the design team to utilize fewer loudspeakers than previous concepts while achieving necessary resolution at low volumes for orchestral dynamics. The narrow horizontal profile of the arrays enabled placement closer to the stage to reach previously obstructed seats.
New York integrator Sound Associates executed the installation, deploying a custom rigging approach for the 24 TIGRA cabinets, supported by 2100-LFC low-frequency control elements and various ULTRA series point source loudspeakers. ProSoundWeb notes that the system incorporates GEN-1 technology, moving Galileo GALAXY processing directly into the loudspeakers, with overall control managed via the Nebra software platform. This upgrade aims to provide uniform audio quality across all seating positions for diverse events ranging from spoken-word presentations to contemporary amplified works.
