Monthly Mixing reported that Mixed In Key has released version 3.0 of its music production plugin Wingman. This tool analyzes audio captured from a producer’s digital audio workstation to suggest chord progressions, basslines, and drum patterns. The original audio remains unchanged, allowing users to audition suggestions alongside their tracks before editing and exporting ideas into their session.

Version 3.0 expands chord editing capabilities, enabling users to insert passing chords, replace individual chords, and adjust harmony change frequencies. Chord regions can be resized, split, or deleted, with edits comparable against the original audio. Vocal remixing features let producers test different chord progressions over existing vocal performances or find harmonies that suit a sample.

The update also includes acoustic and electric guitar performances recorded by real musicians, preserving articulation and variation while adjusting to chosen progressions. A new Drums channel offers genre-based patterns for verses, hooks, and bridges. Users can audition ideas with their own VST3 instruments or hundreds of free Serum presets. Wingman 3.0 costs $49 and is available for macOS and Windows in VST3, AU, and AAX formats, with existing users able to update for free.
