Cambridge, Massachusetts manufacturer MOTU has launched the OctaLite, a compact 16×12 half-rack USB audio interface priced at $849.95 MSRP, according to mixonline.com.
The unit provides eight combo XLR/TRS mic, line and hi-Z guitar inputs — two front-panel and six rear-panel — with individual 48V phantom power, -20 dB pads, phase invert and pre/post FX routing. Burr-Brown engineered Texas Instruments preamps deliver +74 dB of gain. The interface supports macOS, Windows and iOS, using USB-C 2.0 compatible with USB 3/4, with 2 ms round-trip latency or class-compliant driverless operation. Sample rates reach 192 kHz.
Optical input and output allow additional digital I/O, and the unit can function as an optical expander adding eight mic/line/instrument inputs to another ADAT-equipped device. Onboard DSP mixing and effects processing are included.
For rack installation, a Half-Rack Mounting Kit and Half-Rack Coupler Kit are sold separately. The coupler joins two OctaLites or an OctaLite with MOTU’s UltraLite-mk5, offering retailers bundled accessory opportunities alongside the interface itself.
