MXR has unveiled the Mr. Talkbox Signature Talk Box, created in collaboration with Byron Chambers, according to gearnews.com. The new unit builds on the company's earlier M222 Talk Box and arrives in a shiny gold finish.
Players get three controls for volume, tone, and gain. The pedal operates on 18 volts, which doubles the headroom of the M222, and its 25-watt preamp steps in for the older model's 10-watt version. MXR also fitted a neodymium speaker driver intended to deliver added bass and definition.
A GAIN BYP switch lets users bypass the preamp entirely, a option geared toward synthesizer signals, while switching off Mute routes the incoming signal straight to the output jack. The package includes a black 8-foot surgical tube. A talk box works by pushing the signal through a speaker and tube into the performer's mouth, where mouth movements shape the vocal-like results.
The pedal carries a price of $449.99, £387, or €449, and pre-orders are currently open at Thomann and Sweetwater.
