Neumann has officially released the KK 104 A and KK 105 A, which are premium condenser capsule heads created specifically for use with Sennheiser wireless systems. LSi Online reported that these new A-Series capsules build upon the success of previous models by combining established condenser technology with an updated design that reduces handling noise. The new units ensure seamless compatibility with the latest wireless ecosystems from Sennheiser, including Spectera, EW-D, EW-DX, and Digital 6000 or 9000 handheld transmitters. This release allows performers and engineers to access the clarity, detail, and natural vocal reproduction associated with the brand.
Stephan Mauer, director of product management at Neumann, stated that the new capsule heads are optimized for modern wireless workflows while preserving the distinct character artists trust. Engineered for stage performance, both models include a fixed low-cut filter to control proximity effects during close microphone use. They also feature a hardened steel grille with an integrated pop screen to protect the capsule from moisture and reduce plosives. The KK 104 A offers a cardioid polar pattern for feedback resistance and freedom of movement, creating a spacious sound. In contrast, the KK 105 A utilizes a supercardioid pickup pattern to provide maximum isolation and control by rejecting off-axis sound effectively. Jorma Marquardt, product manager for recording and audio production, noted that choosing between the two depends on matching the microphone to the specific performer and stage environment to ensure high-level performances.
