Outline has introduced a native Bitfocus Companion plug-in for its Newton platform, enabling integration with Elgato Stream Deck hardware control interfaces, LSi Online reported. The addition gives Newton users access to application-specific features aimed at simpler, quicker, and safer control of key workflow functions.
Andrea Ippolito, software development dean at Outline, told LSi Online that users upgrading to any Elgato Stream Deck model can add a layer of interaction rooted in both physical and visual domains, complementing desktop or tablet experiences with graphical push-button interfaces.
Paolo Calza, application engineer at Outline, said the plug-in sits at the crossroad of Newton’s and Elgato’s respective control protocols, providing substantial improvement in operational safety. Commands imparted via Stream Deck push-buttons will reach Newton and produce intended effects even if the primary control connection is disrupted.
Gabriele Maucione, software developer at Outline, noted that while Elgato Stream Deck is one of many control platforms the Bitfocus Companion framework can address, it is arguably the most popular. The native plug-in is released at public level, realizing straight-out-of-the-box functionality with no tweaking or guesswork needed for included presets.
