Spectral Engine Audio has started an open beta for Spectral Engine, a plugin that automatically resolves frequency masking across an entire mix, Monthly Mixing reported. No sidechain routing is required for the plugin to function.
The software operates by allowing every instance within a project to share analysis data, according to Monthly Mixing. Individual tracks create space solely in those frequency bands where they are genuinely masked by others, and only for the duration of that masking. A Conflict view displays clashes between tracks, while a Listen mode enables users to hear exclusively what is being taken out. Users can also adjust how much each track yields.
A companion plugin called Spectral Engine Master provides bypass and intensity controls for the whole session, plus an overview of all instances. The output stage features a true peak limiter. The open beta is currently available for macOS in AU and VST3 formats. The beta price is €29, with a regular price of €99 afterward. A trial version with all features available for 14 days is also offered.
