TiMax has launched an integration of AI assistants within its latest TiMax2 SoundHub software, marking the first spatial audio and show control platform to natively support the Model Context Protocol. According to a report by LSi Online, this update enables Mac and PC users to utilize supported AI tools without additional licensing fees. The TiMax MCP feature transforms initial show file construction into a conversational process, potentially reducing manual data entry time from four or five hours down to approximately 30 minutes.
LSi Online notes that sound designers can now import speaker layouts from Martin Audio DISPLAY 3, d&b ArrayCalc, and EASE files directly through the AI interface. The system allows for the creation and editing of speakers, image definitions, subspaces, scaling surfaces, and output labels while reconfiguring venue orientation if prediction files mismatch software requirements. TiMax product and software manager Dan Higgott stated that the MCP server contains detailed product knowledge specific to TiMax geometry and functions rather than general audio software concepts.
The scope of this automation is strictly limited to initial setup, leaving creative design, deployment, and live cue execution entirely to the designer. LSi Online reports that all AI-generated objects remain visible, editable, and reversible within the software, ensuring that creative decisions and error correction stay under human control. This development aims to streamline administrative tasks for retailers and rental houses utilizing TiMax hardware in professional audio markets.
