Vengeance Sound released the first public beta of VPS Avenger 2.5.0, bringing a built-in MIDI sequencer, piano roll, three new effects and expanded drum capabilities to its software synthesizer, according to Gearnews.

The MIDI sequencer assigns each oscillator its own track and includes an arrangement view with move, copy, duplicate, cut, merge, compress, stretch and reverse functions. A part editor offers draw, brush and line note-entry modes with velocity and CC lanes. MIDI recording, step recording and an integrated metronome are supported, Gearnews reports.

MPE editing allows per-note pitch curves and humanize functions. An import browser handles ARP presets and MIDI files, while parts and tracks export as MIDI. An experimental audio-to-MIDI feature converts WAV samples dragged onto sequencer tracks. Three effects debut: Sparkle Delay, Scorch Flanger and DYN EQ dynamic equalizer. The bitcrusher was reworked with a new randomizer, Gearnews says.

Drum kits gain up to seven round robin samples per slot with individual gain settings. The noise section adds cross-modulation mode, and macro buttons can serve as EventTrigger sources. CPU performance was optimized across several modules, particularly filters. The beta is open to all VPS Avenger 2 owners through their accounts, with the synthesizer currently retailing at 219 euros through Thomann, Gearnews reports.
