MONDO-DR reported that Vienna’s Die Josefstadt and Kammerspiele theatres have implemented Solid State Logic System T digital mixing platforms to create a unified audio ecosystem for their shared production environment. The Kammerspiele installed the first System T unit in 2024, followed by Die Josefstadt during its summer 2025 closed season. Head of Sound Raimund Hornich selected the platform for its reliability and ability to handle complex repertory requirements ranging from spoken drama to large-scale musical theatre productions.
The installation included two 32-fader S500 surfaces at Die Josefstadt, one permanently positioned in the front-of-house and another on a custom trolley for auditorium use during rehearsals. A similar mobile arrangement exists at the Kammerspiele. This setup allows operators to interchange show files effortlessly between venues, treating both locations as a single audio network rather than separate installations. The system utilizes Open Sound Control for real-time object-based audio management, facilitating future integration with Soundscape workflows.
The deployment compressed installation timelines to six weeks, supported by an Audio over IP network and wireless microphone systems. Hornich emphasized that the platform’s scalability and reconfigurable desk features are essential for daily production changes in repertory theatre, ensuring technical resources and personnel can move seamlessly between sites. The consoles operate alone or together depending on the specific production needs, allowing the venues to adapt quickly to evolving show requirements without significant downtime or technical friction.
