Violet Audio has introduced Firmware V2 for the dMix 128, adding new ways to divide, operate and manage the network-based mixing system.

The update’s Mixer Split feature can divide one dMix 128 into as many as four independent logical mixer instances. Each instance can receive its own inputs, buses, effects, DCAs, shows and scenes, allowing front-of-house, monitor, broadcast or separate-room operators to work from the same engine. Shared-Preamp Gain Tracking helps operators maintain their preferred gain relationship when multiple mixers share one physical microphone preamp.

Firmware V2 also adds profile-based access controls. Admin, Mixer Operator and Personal Mix profiles can restrict routing, configuration and preamp-gain permissions, with optional four-digit PIN protection. The Personal Mix interface presents musicians only the channels and controls assigned to their monitor mix while the engineer retains broader system control.

The dMix 128 Matrix expands from 8×8 to 12×12 for additional zone, broadcast, recording, fill-system and multi-room routing. Workflow improvements include copying and pasting Aux mixes and channel-processing settings, updated metering and EQ displays, and faster navigation.

The accompanying V2 Offline Editor and Network Manager allow shows and system configurations to be prepared without a connected mixer, then transferred to dMix hardware. Network Manager can discover dMix 128 devices across IP addresses and subnets, assign names and update network settings. The new dMix Studio application adds networking, recovery, show-editing, backup and restore tools.

“We designed the dMix 128 as a platform that could keep growing with our customers,” said Violet Audio founder Danny Olesh. “V2 takes that idea much further.”
