The Nickel Bronze alloy produces a clear, harmonically focused sound with distinctive note definition that allows the natural character of the instrument to come through, the publication reports. An ultra-thin XS film coating protects wound strings from corrosion and contaminants, maximizing lifespan while delivering the smooth feel associated with the XS brand.
Founder Jim D’Addario said players have long valued Nickel Bronze for its transparent tone and instrument-revealing qualities, while XS has built a following for maintaining string performance over extended periods. The new product brings those two innovations together, he said.
With the Nickel Bronze addition, the XS Acoustic lineup now offers three tonal options: Nickel Bronze, Phosphor Bronze, and 80/20 Bronze.
