NXP Semiconductors has announced a new development platform designed to assist in the creation of audio prototypes, according to audioXpress. The FRDM-AUD10 platform was introduced at the Automotive Audio conference held in Detroit.
This platform is built around the AUD10 processor, a key component from NXP. The development board incorporates common digital audio interfaces such as TDM and I2S.
The AUD10 processor integrates multiple HiFi 5 audio digital signal processors, alongside an Arm Cortex-M7 microcontroller. It also features specialized accelerators for neural networks and offers connectivity through PCIe 3.1 and Gigabit Ethernet. The FRDM-AUD10 board further includes microphones and digital-to-analog converters.
Separately, NXP is now distributing the SAF9800 automotive audio and radio processor. This processor combines a HiFi 5 audio DSP with processing capabilities for neural networks, and it enables over-the-air feature updates. The SAF9800 utilizes the same core architecture as the AUD10 processor.
