Analog Obsession has released EQProfiler, a plugin designed to capture hardware equalizer curves in real time. According to Monthly Mixing, this tool allows a single hardware EQ to be used to apply the same EQ to all tracks. The product is particularly useful for EQ plugins with high CPU usage. A single plugin contains both a Capture mode and a Clone mode. The Capture mode captures the hardware EQ curve and passes it directly to the Clone mode. This functionality works with software EQs as well as hardware units.
Monthly Mixing reports that what is captured is strictly the linear frequency response, meaning harmonics are not captured. The required workflow involves creating three tracks named Clone, Effect, and Capture. Users must place the Clone plugin on the Clone track, the Capture plugin on the Capture track, and a hardware or software EQ on the Effect track. Then, connect the Effect track and the Capture track to each other via sends. The plugin is available in VST3, AU, AAX Native, and AudioSuite formats.
