UVI has rebranded its free virtual instrument player as UVI Player and launched UVI Builder Platform, a development platform for partner brands, according to a report by Monthly Mixing. The moves expand how UVI soundware and Falcon Expansions reach end users while opening Falcon’s underlying technology to third-party instrument developers.

Monthly Mixing reports that UVI Player replaces UVI Workstation and runs standalone or inside a DAW on macOS and Windows, supporting AU, AAX, VST and VST3 formats. It is available as a free download from UVI Portal and can play UVI soundware and Falcon Expansions without a Falcon license, though full access to layers, oscillators, modulators and scripts still requires Falcon. The player includes UVI Starter with 50 presets and a browser with tag search, favorites and audio preview.

The Builder Platform gives partner brands access to Falcon’s sampling, synthesis, effects, modulators and Lua scripting, with UVI handling compatibility, copy protection and distribution through UVI Portal. Monthly Mixing notes partner terms include no upfront costs or encoding fees and quarterly revenue payouts. Partner instruments play in both Falcon and UVI Player, and existing UVI Workstation libraries and licenses remain usable.
