At the Waking Life festival in Portugal, system engineer Fernando Rodrigues deployed two PRODIGY.MP units to manage continuous operation on electronic stages. The units operate as master clocks at 96 kHz, managing up to eight channels per DJ kit across digital, analog, and monitoring feeds. Each unit handles analog and AES3 signal formats to ensure redundancy for both main loudspeakers and DJ monitors.
The PRODIGY.MP integrates Waves plugins for dynamic EQ directly on matrix outputs, maintaining consistent PA balance while preserving artist mixes. Custom GPIO triggers create fail-safes that bypass plugin hosts during instability, automatically re-engaging them once the system stabilizes. Additional Dante and Milan modules provide recording capabilities and connectivity for Milan-ready PA systems.
DirectOut notes that this configuration has supported zero technical failures across three festival editions. The unit’s versatility allows it to adapt from electronic music festivals to corporate events and large-scale concerts, proving its value as a mandatory component in professional audio toolkits rather than an optional accessory.
