Neural DSP has launched its biggest CorOS update ever, bringing more sounds and functionality to its Quad Cortex amp modeller and multi-effects platform. According to MusicRadar, this free update introduces Device Presets, a feature that allows users to save the settings of any virtual device in their rig and then pull them into another preset. This capability covers virtual speaker cabinets, drive units, effects, and utilities, making it easier to find new electric guitar tones.
The release adds eight new virtual devices, including a Multivoicer harmonizer, Glitch granular delay, Ring Modulator, Arpeggio Delay, Crystal Delay, Vintage Digital Reverb, a compressor based on Dark Glass Electronics’ Hyper Luminal, and a parametric EQ. Native compatibility now includes signature Archetype plugin bundles from artists like Tim Henson, John Mayer, John Petrucci, Rabea Massaad, and Misha Mansoor. The accompanying Cortex Control software enables controlling multiple devices from a computer simultaneously, assigning names and toggling between units without touching cables.
Neural DSP co-founder Francisco Cresp described the release as a major milestone for the ecosystem. CEO Douglas Castro stated the update fundamentally changes how quickly musicians can build sounds and bring the entire plugin ecosystem into their hardware workflow. The update ships with 2,000 factory Device Presets to help users get started immediately with the new system.
