Røde has officially launched the DS3, a new desktop studio arm designed to support heavier broadcast equipment in the professional audio market. According to Monthly Mixing, this new model succeeds the DS2 by offering an expanded range of adjustment, improved stability, and a higher maximum load capacity of up to 1.5 kilograms. This increased strength allows the stand to hold broadcast-grade XLR microphones, large-diaphragm condensers, cameras, and lighting fixtures effectively.
The manufacturer engineered the DS3 with a precision ball head for quiet angle adjustments and a central locking mechanism to secure positions instantly. Monthly Mixing reports that the unit utilizes a weighted base rather than a clamp, sitting on flat surfaces to minimize wobbling or tipping risks during operation. The design includes cable management clips and various thread adaptors for broad equipment compatibility. While the black version featuring a silicone isolation pad is available now for $109, a white model with a natural cork pad will follow. This release provides studios with a stable mounting solution that sits securely on any flat surface without requiring clamps or permanent desk modifications.
