Immersive audio specialist Areal has appointed Audio Acoustics as the official Benelux distributor for its SR1 spatial reference headphone. LSi Online reported that this agreement gives audio professionals across Belgium, the Netherlands, and Luxembourg direct local access to the SR1 through Audio Acoustics, with initial stock due to ship shortly. Developed at Areal’s headquarters in Belgium, the SR1 is a portable, reference-grade spatial monitoring system designed to let engineers work reliably with immersive audio beyond dedicated speaker rooms. The device combines four physical drivers in each earcup with Areal’s Acoustic Image Mapping technology to support formats up to 7.1.4. This capability enables session preparation, mixing, review, and reference work to continue wherever the project takes place.
Based in Alphen aan den Rijn in the Netherlands, Audio Acoustics is a specialist distributor and integrator of professional audio technology. The company combines technical sales expertise with longstanding relationships across music, broadcast, live sound, and professional audio sectors. It currently represents brands including Beyerdynamic, DPA Microphones, and Adamson Systems Engineering. Areal commercial director Kristof Jeuris commented that the partner understands the demands professional audio engineers place on their monitoring tools. He noted that Audio Acoustics has a strong track record in professional headphones alongside real expertise in immersive audio. Jeroen Knol, commercial director at Audio Acoustics, added that immersive audio is becoming an increasingly important part of professional music production. He stated that SR1 offers a solution by giving engineers a consistent spatial reference they can use wherever they need to work.
