Black Box Analog Design has introduced the HG-Q, a hardware equalizer and saturator for professional audio production. The 3U rackmount unit combines analog processing with digital control and includes a companion plug-in.
The HG-Qhas six independent bands per channel, allowing simultaneous frequency cuts and boosts. Tube-driven saturation stages add harmonic processing. The unit supports stereo, dual-mono and mid-side operation, and a 2X mode extends the equalizer’s range to 16 dB of boost and cut.
The included HG-Qplug-in can remotely control the hardware and also operate as a digital model of the unit. It includes a spectrum analyzer and an extended control view for studio and remote workflows.
Other features include solid-state filters, series and parallel processing configurations, LED indicators and displays for parameter feedback. The chassis occupies three rack spaces.
The company opened preorders Jan. 15, 2025, and announced plans to begin shipping through its dealer and distributor network in the second quarter of 2025. The announced minimum advertised price was $5,995. Product information and dealer listings are available from Black Box Analog Design.
