Black Swamp Percussion has expanded its Overture series with 6-inch and 8-inch steel triangles for students, band directors and percussion ensembles. The new models join the series’ tambourines, woodblocks and castanet machines.
The triangles are made from 11 mm heat-treated steel and have pointed tips and chrome plating. The two sizes cover dimensions commonly used in band and orchestral settings. Black Swamp developed the instruments as entry-level options for school music programs and developing percussionists.
The 6-inch Overture Triangle, model OV-TR6, has a manufacturer’s suggested retail price of $56. The 8-inch model, OV-TR8, has a suggested retail price of $60. Both are available through authorized Black Swamp Percussion retailers.
Black Swamp launched the Overture series in 2023. The company said the addition continues its effort to provide percussion instruments for students and educators, with an emphasis on sound, durability and affordability. Tim Church, the company’s vice president, said the series began with tambourines, woodblocks and castanet machines before the addition of the steel triangles.
