EarthQuaker Devices has introduced limited-edition Plumes Jr. and Blumes Jr. MOSFET Mod overdrive pedals.

The compact models retain three clipping modes but replace the third setting of the standard Plumes and Blumes with a MOSFET circuit. EarthQuaker describes the new mode as offering additional low-end response, crunch and sustain.

The controls identify the modes as L, Nand M. Mode Luses LEDs for symmetrical clipping. Mode Nbypasses the soft-clipping diodes for operational amplifier drive, while Mode Mselects the new MOSFET clipping circuit.

Plumes Jr. follows the guitar-oriented Plumes design, while Blumes Jr. is based on its bass-oriented counterpart. The manufacturer said the limited runs do not replace the standard production pedals.

Founder and President Jamie Stillman developed the variants to distinguish them from the existing models and provide a heavier clipping option. Announced Oct. 29, the pedals also offer a smaller format for players seeking to save pedalboard space.
