Edgar Russ – Sound of Cremona has announced a new violin-making workshop at Via Bernardino Gatti 6 in downtown Cremona, Italy.

The company’s six-person team planned an extended open house around Cremona Musica, with activities running Oct. 1-5. The announcement invited visitors to see the new workshop, try instruments and meet the people who make them.

Team members were to introduce their preferred instrument models and discuss violin making, sound and music. The workshop event was held separately from the trade fair at the fairgrounds, providing a smaller setting for conversations with the makers.

The new address places the business near Cremona’s city center. The permanent workshop opening is the central business development in the original announcement; its food, drink and event invitations were ancillary to that move.

Russ and his colleagues described the new space as a place to introduce visitors to their instruments and the work of the team behind them.

The accompanying file photograph shows Russ at his workbench; the maker’s website does not identify it as the new workshop.
