A new era in guitar tone: another industry first from the inventor of
AI Machine Modeling®, capturing the sound and control behavior of amps and pedals with extraordinary realism, across software and hardware.
Modena, Italy-October 29, 2026. IK Multimedia, a leader in digital guitar technology and the inventor of AI Machine Modeling, proudly announces TONEX® Parametric Tone Model technology, a landmark breakthrough in the digital recreation of guitar amplifiers and pedals.
For the first time within TONEX, AI capture goes beyond an ultra- accurate sonic snapshot of a particular setting to recreate how the original gear responds as its controls change. The TONEX neural network captures and reproduces the behavior of individual controls and their interaction, bringing the flexibility of component modeling together with the exceptional realism of AI capture.
The result is a new dimension of authenticity: the freedom to explore an amp or pedal across its captured control ranges, with the sound, response and character of the original gear.
Beyond the snapshot. Into the full experience
TONEX Parametric Tone Model technology captures up to 10 positions per control, across as many as six knobs or switches on an amplifier or pedal. An advanced neural network then predicts the sonic behavior between captured settings and across combinations of control positions.
This goes beyond conventional mathematical interpolation between snapshots. IK’s AI-based prediction recreates the evolving response of the captured gear, allowing players to explore its tonal possibilities with an unprecedented level of freedom within TONEX.
The technology will debut in November 2026 as a free update for all versions of TONEX Player software, including the free TONEX CS, and
TONEX Board hardware.
Developed through innovation. Embraced by tone experts
IK privately previewed the technology at the first TONEX Convention, held September 27–28 at its headquarters in Modena, Italy. A select group of Tone Partners experienced the breakthrough firsthand, including some of the most discerning specialists in amplifier capture.
The response was enthusiastic, with participants recognizing the achievement and the creative possibilities it unlocks. Many committed to supporting the technology from launch, bringing their expertise and distinctive approach to the first generation of Parametric Tone Models.
A new dimension for the TONEX ecosystem
Parametric Tone Models expand an ecosystem that already offers more than 60,000 Tone Models on Tone.NET, created by IK, Tone Partners, artists, brands and users. They add a powerful new way to experience captured gear while preserving the value and individuality of existing
Tone Models.
Current Tone Models will remain fully supported and continue to offer an ideal solution for players seeking the precise sound of a particular rig at a chosen setting, with little or no adjustment required.
Parametric Tone Models bring additional freedom to explore the controls of that rig while retaining the creator’s sonic signature. Cabinet and speaker choices, microphone selection and placement, outboard equipment and the recording chain all remain integral to the result. Even two examples of the same amplifier can deliver distinctly different experiences-preserving the artistry, expertise and individuality at the heart of tone creation.
Availability and Technology Roadmap
The public debut in November 2026 will feature 11 captured pieces of gear – 10 amplifiers and one pedal-created by IK Multimedia and a select group of Tone Partners: Amalgam Audio, Boutique Tones, Custom
Guitar Tones, Jason Sadites, Massimo Varini, The Studio Rats, Tone
Junkie and Signal Theory.
Spanning essential amplifier icons, coveted boutique designs and vintage classics, this introductory selection will give players a broad palette of sounds through which to experience the new technology.
All 11 Parametric Tone Models will be available free to every TONEX
Player user, including TONEX CS users, and every TONEX Board user, bringing hands-on access to the breakthrough in the studio and on stage.
The first commercial collections from IK Multimedia and selected Tone
Partners will follow in December 2026.
Support for additional TONEX hardware is scheduled for the first half
