Violet Audio has introduced Spatia 2D, an object-based spatial audio application for its dMix 128 digital mixing system, giving engineers a path into immersive mixing without requiring proprietary hardware. According to fohonline.com, the software supports up to 24 freely positioned loudspeaker outputs and calculates each audio object’s contribution to every speaker in real time.

The application targets professional live sound, theater, themed entertainment, broadcast, corporate events, installations and studio work. Engineers position sources as objects on a virtual two-dimensional stage, with panning options including equal-power, distance law, angle-weight and linear. Objects can be grouped, automated and moved along custom paths synchronized via MIDI, Timecode and OSC, fohonline.com reports.

Violet Audio founder Daniel Olesh said the combination of Spatia 2D with the dMix 128 provides an affordable platform for object-based mixing, making immersive audio accessible beyond the largest productions. The software saves complete layouts as scenes and captures movement as automation paths, with show files stored in a .spatia format.

The dMix 128 console is available now through select U.S. professional audio retailers at $5,995.00. Spatia 2D ships immediately with a U.S. perpetual license priced at $599.00, expanding the platform’s value for existing dMix 128 customers and prospective buyers.
