The Rex Rooms at 151, a reimagined venue built on the site of the former 151 club, has opened in Chelsea, London, featuring a premium audio system from Martin Audio. Designer and nightlife innovator Marc Jacques Burton oversaw the venue's creation, aiming to evoke a refined and forward-thinking atmosphere. Specialist integrator Evolve Install designed and implemented the audio solution, according to Mondo-Dr.
The space is divided into two areas: a main lounge and a private room called The King’s 1942 Room, accessible through a concealed entrance. To ensure consistent audio quality and a discrete appearance, Martin Audio’s CDD (Coaxial Differential Dispersion) Series loudspeakers were selected. Elliot Patterson, from Evolve Install, highlighted the compact power of the CDD enclosures, noting the need for a consistent experience for all patrons, regardless of their location within the lounge.
The main lounge utilizes four CDD8 loudspeakers and two SX210 subwoofers, while The King’s 1942 Room features six CDD6 loudspeakers, a subwoofer, and additional CDD5 models. The venue’s design allows for independent audio programming in each space, providing flexibility for different events. Patterson stated the system delivers a balanced and impactful sound without being overwhelming.
