Gretsch Drums has introduced the Catalina EVO, a new electronic drum series designed to replicate the look and feel of an acoustic kit while offering digital flexibility, according to Music Instrument News.

The Catalina EVO uses high-resolution samples of Gretsch USA Custom, Brooklyn and Broadkaster kits, with extensive velocity layers, round-robin sampling and selectable microphone layers, Music Instrument News reports. The system features 3-ply mesh heads, a real hi-hat with bottom cymbal and 3-zone cymbals with 360-degree triggering.

Music Instrument News says the sound module provides quick access to essential settings, while a Gretsch E-Drum Remote app handles advanced editing, trigger adjustments and firmware updates. Connectivity includes Bluetooth, USB audio and MIDI, four direct outputs and additional trigger inputs.

According to Music Instrument News, the series ships in two configurations: J484, with a 14-by-18-inch bass drum, 7-by-10-inch tom, 12-by-12-inch floor tom and 5.5-by-14-inch snare; and F405, with a 14-by-20-inch bass drum, 7-by-10 and 8-by-12-inch toms, a 14-by-14-inch floor tom and a 15.54-inch snare. Both include a 14-inch hi-hat, 16-inch crash, 18-inch ride and a full Gretsch Explorer hardware pack.

Music Instrument News reports the Catalina EVO is available in Black Sparkle and Walnut Glaze finishes.
