Neko Engineering has launched a Kickstarter campaign for NEKO, a pocket-sized wireless guitar studio. The company plans to begin shipping units to backers in April 2027.

Two wireless jacks are stored and charged inside the unit. One connects to a guitar or bass and the other to an amplifier or mixer. The device handles sound processing and recording, and players can connect headphones for private practice. Standard guitar cables can also be used in place of the wireless connections.

NEKO combines amp and effects modeling powered by Neural Amp Modeler with access to the TONE3000 tone library. LALAL.AI provides stem separation, allowing players to mute a guitar part and play along with a recording. Mirelo provides the audio-to-MIDI conversion used by NEKO Tabs to produce playable tablature.

The unit can record riffs and multitrack projects. Its Time Machine function allows players to return to material played earlier, including ideas they did not intentionally record. The company also describes tools for building backing tracks and arrangements around a player’s performance.

Visitors tried the device at IBC Future Tech in Amsterdam in September. Neko Engineering says the product received a Red Dot Design Award in 2026.
