Ovation has reintroduced the Viper electric guitar to mark the company’s 60th anniversary. The model returns in two versions, with each limited to 60 instruments worldwide, according to the company’s Oct. 19 announcement.

The new instruments retain the solid-body profile of the original Viper while updating the construction and hardware. Both use bolt-on maple necks with Java rosewood fingerboards and 24 frets. Black Tusq nuts and sealed Ovation tuners are standard, and each instrument includes an Ovation Viper gig bag.

Lace Sensor Hot Gold Dually pickups provide single-coil and humbucker sounds through a push-pull coil-split control on the tone pot. The Babicz Full Contact Bridge is designed to couple the strings directly to the body.

The Viper IV-DTD-Ghas a basswood body with a maple veneer and a Babicz fixed six-string hardtail bridge. The Viper IV-1-Gpairs an alder body with a Babicz FCH two-point full-contact tremolo.
