PRS Guitars has unveiled the Silver Sky Defender Color Collection, featuring eight limited-edition instruments developed with signature artist John Mayer and the British automotive brand. The website mia.org.uk reported that the lineup includes four classic Land Rover Defender colorways on US-made Silver Sky models and four contemporary finishes on SE Silver Sky guitars. Production of the US-made versions is strictly limited to 500 units per color worldwide. These specific models feature exclusive hard cases displaying the Defender wordmark, branded neckplates, and matching painted headstocks. The heritage color options specifically include white pickguards and control knobs to honor the vehicle history.
In contrast, the SE models will be available only during a restricted ordering period concluding in mid-2027. Both tiers are currently available for preorder through authorized PRS dealers. Mayer noted that the design draws inspiration from his personal long-term ownership of a Defender in Arles Blue, aiming to merge automotive heritage with musical expression. Paula Gharizi, Brand Director for JLR North America, stated that the iconic vehicle palette translates effectively to the guitar line. She anticipates strong demand from collectors and musicians alike.
